Currently employed as the nurse educator cancer services at Westmead Hospital. Previous experience: 15 years experience of working within Oncology and Palliative Care, 10 years experience of developing and delivery of both pre registration and post registration oncology and palliative care education curricula. Interested in multi modal teaching and student support methods and Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Dr Vivien Lane has over 30 years cancer nursing experience with special interests in cervical cancer screening, nursing taxonomies and theorising nursical-oncology. Dr Lane developed post-graduate cancer curricula for the College of Nursing, the University of Technology-Sydney (UTS) and SWAHS.
Dr Lane has 13 years experience as a member of Western Sydney Area (WSAHS) Human Research Ethics Committee and was founding chairwoman of the WSAHS Bioethics Consultative Committee, and the Ethics Committee of the Cancer Institute NSW. Dr Lane has positions as a Board member of the Cancer Institute NSW and also CanAssist.

Her role is to facilitate practice development and research activities in the cancer-nursing workforce. Dr Lane has a long-standing commitment to education for cancer nurses. She directed the 2006 project for SWAHS Pilot On-Line Clinical Education in Nursing (POLCEN) to teach and produce over 80 hours of lecture materials. In 2007, the OLCEN'07 website will undergo further web developement to enhance students' flexible learning options.

Profile

Mary Bridgid Naylor worked in nursing and midwifery in the UK and Europe in the early part of her career. She held positions as Associate Lecturer at The University of Sydney where among other activities coordinated Nursing Practice for the first-year Bachelor of Nursing at Cumberland Campurs and managed clinical education placements at Mallet Street.

Mary Bridgid has also lectured at TAFE and has worked as a Clinical facilitator and educator in Sydney metropolitan hospitals, before moving to SWAHS in 2001.

She was awarded her Nursing Degree and Master of Health Science Education in the mid nineties. Mary-Bridgid is currently completing a Doctorate in Health Science in clinical governance focusing on safety and risk management for patients, staff and students. She was elected National President of Australia the Nurse Teacher's Society in 2005, and is keen to provide support to nurses untertaking the Graduate Certificate in Specialty Nursing and other postgraduate study.
