SWAHS Lecture resources - Help
For the convenience of its students, the SWAHS professional education unit is recording all cancer nursing graduate certificate lectures in multimedia formats. The video/audio is recorded onto miniDV tape and then processed to produce the following web resources. More information is available here
| A high quality movie of the lecture. This is a heavily compressed version of the original DV footage, with average file size around 200mb. Due to this large file size these movies are best viewed on broadband or somewhere with high bandwidth. | |
| A low quality movie of the lecture. This is a very heavily compressed version of the original DV footage, with average file size around 20mb. This is a compressed Flash movie which should play in most web browsers. | |
| An mp3 of the lecture audio. The average file size is around 20mb. The audio is recorded using a wireless lapel microphone which ensures a clean recording of the lecturer with a minimum of background noise. | |
| A rich media file, the jewel in the crown of lecture resources. Average file size is 9mb. This syncronises the audio with the Powerpoint presentation, so you see the slides progressing just as they did in the lecture. |
Lecture upload timeframes
The lecture resources will be made available in the various downloadable multi-media formats online within a week of the lecture. Powerpoint files and rich media may require additional processing to strip copyrighted material so that we comply with Australian copyright laws.
Troubleshooting
| The High Quality avi movie is created using the DivX codec. If you are receiving only audio with no image when you try to view it, your player is lacking the DivX player plugin. To correct this click here and download the free DivX video plugin, available for Windows and Mac OS. This should fix any viewing problems you are experiencing. During installation, untick the "trial 6 month pro version" tick box to use the free version. If the movie still won't load, try downloading Windows Media Player and reinstalling it. | |
| The Low Quality movie is compressed as a Flash movie, therefore it should play in most web browsers. If you experience any difficulties in viewing this, you may need to download the latest Flash player from http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/ or locally by clicking here | |
| The MP3 should play in any music / MP3 player, such as iTunes. | |
| The Rich Media file is a Flash file. If you experience any difficulties in viewing this, you may need to download the latest Flash player from http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/ or locally by clicking here |
