Service Outline
The SWAHS Clinical Governance Unit has been established as part of the NSW Health Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Program.
The Clinical Governance Unit provides corporate and health service strategic support to SWAHS delivered in strong partnership with the staff of the Division of Clinical Operations.
Specific responsibilities of the Clinical Governance Unit include the provision of:
- A Clinical Risk Management Framework which incorporates:
- Management of serious complaints
- Clinician performance management
- Management of recommendations
- Clinical audits
- Incident management; and
- Death review
- The provision of the Improvement of Care framework which incorporates:
- Clinical practice improvement program
- Quality education and training program
- Delivery of the patient experience program
- Management of accreditation and External Quality Reviews
- Reporting for Quality
- Benchmarking; and
- Policy Development
- The Governance Support Unit
