Welcome to Sydney West Area Health Advisory Council Website.

My name is Associate Professor Michael Fearnside. I have recently retired from Sydney West Area Health Service (SWAHS) as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in Neurosurgery. I am the Director of Surgery for the Eastern and Central Clusters (SWAHS). I remain in clinical practice in Western Sydney.

In the role of Chairman of the Area Health Advisory Council (AHAC) I have responsibility to ensure that community and clinician consultation and participation in the understanding and planning of health services takes place.

The Council is a group of committed people of differing backgrounds and skills with a variety of community connections. I look forward to working with the Council to pursue its role as communicator and advisor.

Most importantly, we all look forward to engaging with the people of Western Sydney wherever they live and whatever their background and to work together with the them to build a shared understanding of and involvement in planning health services for all of us.
