Lottie Stewart Hospital

About Us

Lottie Stewart Hospital was founded in 1948. It is named after Lottie Stewart, the wife of Sir Frederick Stewart, a prominent Methodist preacher and federal parliamentarian. He donated his home in Dundas for the purpose of caring for sick and elderly people.

Since those early days, the hospital has continued to provide highly specialised dedicated service. It has journeyed from only providing nursing home care to delivering a range of excellent services in highly specialised areas.

Lottie Stewart Hospital provides special care for special needs within a christian environment,  and is recognised for its leadership in humanitarian care, respecting the needs of the whole person.

Lottie Stewart Hospital is unique in housing the only ward in NSW which cares for patients with Huntington Disease, the management of which is highly complex.

It provides long term for confused and disturbed elderly residents, for terminally ill patients and those with spinal conditions. Its other specialities are in the geriatric rehabilitation, aged care, respite, transit and psychiatric areas.

For a hospital to cover such a range of conditions, it has to attract staff committed to the provision of the very best care. And Lottie Stewart has such people in abundance: staff who work above and beyond their daily duties, who think laterally and creatively about the people for whom they care and who give their very best in the pursuit of excellence.
