Huntington Disease Service
Lottie Stewart Hospital is an aged care facility also offering inpatient care for Huntington Disease in the seventeen bed Huntington Disease Unit.
The Huntington Disease unit is part of the HUNTINGTON DISEASE SERVICE which is based at Westmead Hospita l and funded by the Sydney-West Area Health Service. The Huntington Disease Service (Sydney-West Area Health Service) includes:
- Outreach Services including Outreach Clubs , Nursing and Allied Health (Dietitian, Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist, Speech pathologist, Diversional therapist) located at Lottie Stewart Hospital.
- Respite and assessment (2 beds) / Inpatient medium term chronic care (15 beds) located at Lottie Stewart Hospital with access to Neurology/Psychiatry and GP as well as Social work and Allied Health Services. The Huntington Unit is the only specialised inpatient unit for people with Huntington Disease in NSW. Patients need to be relocated as the disease progresses however Huntington Outreach staff maintain contact with patients in other chronic care facilities.
- The University Clinic at Westmead Hospital , for assessment, diagnosis and management of Huntington disease patients and at risk members of families. Bookings can be made on (02) 98456544.

- Supplement Service is available for all patients with Huntington Disease. Shop to Swallow is a resource kit about commercially available foods for patients with swallowing problems and is available to Health Professionals for purchase.

The service logo is "Salvia, Huntington 's Red". The Salvia (or sage) is a herb representing "Health". For our Service, the "Health" goal is to minimise the handicap or the impact of Huntington Disease on the lives of patients and families.
