| The project is an extension
of the Mt Druitt Food Project – Young Families (MDFP-YF) -
a project funded by the Department of Health and Ageing and completed
by the Nutrition Team of the Centre for Public Health, Western Sydney
Area Health Service between 2001 and 2004. |

Further bulletins on injury surveillance
are on hold due to poor quality of the data collection. Improvement
options are being explored. A committee (dealing with injury data
collection from the emergency department) was set up in August 2004.
Members include staff from NSW Injury Risk Management Research Centre,

care program. The program has been integrated into the Western
Sydney Area Health Service Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and

A baseline prevalence survey is
being designed to accurately measure smoking prevalence and Environmental
Tobacco Smoke (ETS) issues in Blacktown LGA. All available statistics
on smoking prevalence rates and access of QUITLINE services are
being gathered and analysed. Needs Assessment survey and interviews
questions have been designed. These are being implemented through
an initial round of consultations with key stakeholders from local
government, city council, SWAHS, CentreLink and community based
organisations. A series of focus groups will subsequently follow.
A task group will be formed to develop an action plan and indicators
for various sub-projects.
