This document gives an overview of the demographic and socioeconomic differences between the Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations in the former Western Sydney Area Health Services (WSAHS) and its Local Government Areas (LGAs). Information is provided on population size, level of education completed, occupation, family income, Aboriginal status, household and dwelling types as identified by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) 2001 Census of Population and Housing.
The document intends to assist in further improving the health of Indigenous population in Western Sydney and should be read in conjunction with the Indigenous Health & Welfare Profile, Epidemiology, 2004 which provides an overview of the key aspects of health and wellbeing of Indigenous population in Western Sydney.
