Plan 2010 is a comprehensive plan developed by Western Sydney Health, through broad consultation with other Government and non-government organisations, to improve health outcomes for children and young people from birth to young adulthood by 2010.
Plan 2010 identifies strategies to address the major health issues identified both locally and by NSW Health and is used to inform Western Sydney Health’s response to strategies such as Families First and Community Solutions. The Plan recognises the cultural and linguistic diversity of children and families through both general and targeted strategies.
Plan 2010 provides Western Sydney Health with a strategic, coordinated and integrated plan that can be used by all services to:

Improve the way we deliver services

Make more informed decisions when planning for the future

Use resources more effectively

Build better links across Streams and services within Western Sydney Health

Identify opportunities for partnerships or collaborations with other agencies

Involve consumers in the planning and delivery of services.
Plan 2010 identifies twelve key areas for action to better target prevention, treatment, research and other activities into improving the health of children and young people in Western Sydney. The key health priorities of Plan 2010 are to:

Enhance the capacity of Western Sydney Health to improve the health of children and young people in Western Sydney

Reduce the number of child illness and death

Reduce the impact of disability

Reduce the impact of diseases that can be prevented by immunisation

Reduce the impact of conditions that occur in adulthood but have their origins in childhood or adolescents

Improve children’s quality of life by helping families and communities to function better

Improve nutrition and physical activity in children and young people

Reduce the impact of alcohol and other drug use in young people

Reduce the impact of mental health conditions in young people

Reduce the impact of injury on children and young people

Improve the sexual health of young people

Enhance child and youth service’s access, quality and partnerships
