Westmead Hospital-AMA Library serves Westmead Hospital and Community Health Services, a major public hospital in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and a teaching Hospital of the University of Sydney.
This is the major library serving Sydney West Area Health Service (SWAHS) and staff from SWAHS services are eligible to use this library’s resources and services.
When the library opened in late 1978, the Australian Medical Association (New South Wales branch) holdings were incorporated into the library, hence the inclusion of “AMA” in the library’s official name.
The Library's collection has since been developed to fulfil the needs of our staff and students, ultimately to the benefit of our patients, to become one of the largest hospital libraries in Australia.
