2. Services
Clinical Psychology services are provided across Cumberland and Community Adult Mental Health unit of WSMHS in line with the Services commitment to providing an integrated and multi-disciplinary approach to client care. Continuity of care in the delivery of Psychology services for clients of the Adult Mental Health Service is facilitated by the allocation of Clinical Psychologists between hospital-based Acute Care Units and the associated Community Mental Health Teams.
The range of Psychology services available through Cumberland and Community Adult Mental Health Services include:
- Cognitive and Neuropsychological assessment
- Assessment of psychological functioning with particular reference to personality and mental impairment/illness through clinical and psychometric assessment
- Individual or group therapy for a variety of disorders including Anxiety disorders, Mood disorders, Psychotic disorders, and Personality disorder problems.
- A specialist tertiary service for acute and severe and enduring cases employing formal stand-alone psychological therapies and treatment interventions such as cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, systemic, narrative, and schema focused therapy.
- Provision of specialist individual psychotherapy services to client problems not amenable to intervention through the Psychology Outpatient clinics.
- Liaison with multi-disciplinary team members to provide continuity of care between acute inpatient services and community services.
- Provide input to multi-disciplinary case conferences and treatment planning where appropriate.
- Psychoeducation and support for clients and their family members.
- Promotion of service evaluation and development of clinical research.
- Provision of training, supervision, and consultation to other mental health professionals regarding psychological interventions.

Links with the Outpatient Impulse Control and Depression programs at the Psychology Outpatient clinics.
