Auburn Hospital is a 155 bed acute health care facility situated between Parramatta and the city of Sydney.

Located in a culturally diverse area, Auburn Hospital provides a high standard of acute health care to 100,000 residents. With a significant number derived from non-English speaking backgrounds, the hospital is sensitive in its provision of care to such a linguistically and culturally divergent body of people.

Services available include acute surgical and medical facilities, maternity, paediatrics, emergency, high dependency, coronary care unit, cardiac step-down, dietetics, transitional care, radiology, physiotherapy, speech pathology, consultation liaison psychiatry, diabetes support, social work and occupational therapy. Outpatient clinics are available, and cover a wide range of specialties including obstetrics, physiotherapy, surgery, plastic surgery, dietetics, diabetes and paediatrics. The antenatal clinics give women the choice of care by midwives, offering varied hours to meet distinct needs.

A hospital has stood on the site since the "Granville Electorate Cottage Hospital" was opened in 1907 and Auburn Hospital continues to share strong links with the local community to this day.

Nursing Services:

Our permanent staff is composed of Registered and Enrolled Nurses (the Transitional Care Unit also employs AINs). Positions in our Casual Pool are generally available for RNs, ENs and Undergraduate Student Nurses in their 2nd and 3rd Year.

The Surgical Project at the hospital (which continues as the Surgical Program) was widely reported and acclaimed as a leading example of an approach to reduce waiting lists in NSW.
