Auburn Hospital is a district hospital meeting the needs of a culturally diverse community.
Auburn is situated 14 kms west of the Sydney CBD (Central Business District), and approximately 15 minutes drive from Parramatta.
The hospital is close to the golf course, squash courts, and the Auburn Botanical Gardens. It is well serviced by rail and bus services and is close to Bankstown and Parramatta shopping complexes.

Start dates:
The proposed commencement dates/months are early February and June 2008. Start dates may be negotiable.

Temporary 12-month contract.

Program structure:
Auburn Hospital provides new graduate nurses with a structured, supported nursing experience. Features include:
- a 12-month Transitional Support Program
- hospital and graduate nurse orientation (8 days)
- clinical rotations of 8 to 12 weeks throughout the hospital
- compulsory rotations of 8-weeks medical and 8-weeks surgical, followed by electives in:
- intensive care/coronary care
- emergency
- maternity
- operating theatres/recovery
- transitional care
- supernumerary status on ward commencement and integrated during the orientation block
- preceptorship support and opportunities for debriefing
- clinical guidance and support by the nurse educator
- competency based assessment at the end of every rotation
- study and workshop days throughout the year (3 days)
- in-service sessions which are ward-based as well as staff education unit-based
- monthly meetings chaired by educator
- certificate and badge on completion of the graduate program
