Two modern, attractive acute care facilities promote a multitude of learning experiences within a supportive and dynamic culture :
- Blacktown Campus, located 48 kms from Sydney Central Business District (CBD), is a state of the art hospital, which opened in April 2000 and is located within the business district of Blacktown. A child care centre is also available within the hospital grounds.
- Mt DruittCampus, situated in an attractive bushland setting, is close to transport, has a large shopping setting and public amenities.

Our services include:
- BLACKTOWN HOSPITAL provides acute medical, surgical, maternity & gynaecology, paediatric, dental, mental health, and orthopaedic services. It is supported by a busy emergency department, intensive care and coronary care units, and operating theatres & recovery.
- MT. DRUITT HOSPITAL provides acute services which include emergency, surgical, medical, paediatric, dental, mental health, and community health.
Start dates:
The proposed commencement dates/months are 4 February, 5 May and 7 July 2008, however we are flexible in special circumstances.
Accommodation available/type:
No , there is no accommodation available on the Hospital's premises and staff will need to contact Local Realty Agencies.
Transport description:
- Both hospital sites are close to public transport. Publictimetables and fares are available via the Transport Infoline website.
- On-site staff car parking is also available on both campuses.
Program structure:
The objective of the new graduate nurse program is to support and assist graduate nurses over a 12-month period, to become safe, independent practitioners.
The program, with clinical placements rotating across both campuses, involves:
- two weeks comprehensive hospital orientation, and clinically based nursing orientation including five days supernumerary time
- four clinical rotations through areas such as surgical/medical units, intensive care, emergency, palliative care, coronary care, operating suite, paediatrics, rehabilitation, acute stroke recovery
- three formal study days
- bi-weekly tutorials
- graduate forums
- mentor assignment
- ongoing educational and clinical support to promote evidence-based practices and professional growth
- a needs responsive nurse education department, supported by a network of experienced clinical nurse educators
- regular performance review/appraisals and goal settings, and
- employment opportunities following the new graduate nurse program
