St Joseph 's Hospital is a service of the St Vincents & Mater Health Service therefore continuing the Mission of the Sisters of Charity. The hospital has a proud tradition of over 120 years of providing quality health care in a compassionate and highly personalised atmosphere.
The hospital is situated in Auburn, approximately 15kms west of the Sydney CBD (central business district) and approximately 15 minutes drive from Parramatta. The hospital is in walking distance to public transport ie: bus and rail services and close to the M4 motorway.
Our services include:
- medical rehabilitation unit
- aged care rehabilitation & assessment unit
- outpatient clinics
- aged care psychiatry & neuroscience's unit
- palliative care unit
- aged care assessment team
Start dates:
The proposed commencement month is February 2008. Start dates may be negotiable.
The program duration is 12 months.
Employment status:
Continuous employment, post new graduate program, is given with permanent employment contracts on commencement.
Accommodation available/type:
There is no permanent accommodation available on the premises, however overnight accommodation is available upon request.
There are several local realty agencies offering permanent accommodation.
Transport description:
- St Joseph 's Hospital is within walking distance to bus and rail services.
- Close proximity to the M4 motorway.
- Limited car parking is available on site at no charge to staff.
- Public timetables and fares are available via the Transport Infoline website.
Program structure:
St Joseph 's Hospital offers a flexible 12 month new graduate support program. It offers rotation to all four specialty units and is tailored to the assist the new graduate in reaching optimal potential.
You will be supported by the nurse educators, nursing unit managers, nurse managers, clinical nurse consultants, clinical nurse specialists and other senior nursing and medical staff.
Features include:
- a 12 month program
- hospital and graduate nurse orientation
- clinical rotations 10 to 12 weeks throughout each unit of the hospital
- supernumerary status on commencement
- unit orientation
- study and workshop days throughout the year (5 days)
- preceptorship support
- clinical support and guidance by the educators
- competency based assessments throughout the program
- unit based inservice sessions
- a certificate at the completion of the program
- hospital library with internet/intranet access
- access to the Clinical Information Access Project (CIAP)
- supply of a uniform package
