RN1 Transition to Practice opportunities in Sydney West Area Health Service (SWAHS)

Sydney West Area Health Service (SWAHS) is an exciting place to launch your nursing or midwifery career.
SWAHS recognises that as a new Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife, you have special support needs. SWAHS boasts many facilities and services specifically aimed at supporting you through the Transition to Practice phase, from novice to beginner practitioner.
By 2010, SWAHS will be offering you the chance to commence your career in the Complex Aged and Chronic Care (HOMEFirst) area within the community setting.

In addition to SWAHS’ larger hospitals, there are many RN1 positions available within its smaller facilities, including the brand new Auburn Hospital, and Blue Mountains and Lithgow hospitals. These facilities offer invaluable support for the novice practitioner yet are often overlooked when considering first year of practice options.

All SWAHS RN1 positions are highly sought after and applicants should be aware that the interview process is a competitive one. You should prepare yourself well.

Application Process

To apply for any RN1 Transition to Practice position within SWAHS, you need to apply through the NSW Health centralised on-line application process at www.health.nsw.gov.au/nursing.

As part of the application process, you will be asked to nominate location preferences. Please ensure that all your information is correctly and accurately entered into the application system, as this will be used to contact you.
On-line applications will open Monday, June 15, 2009, and close Monday, July 27, 2009. Your application will be redirected to SWAHS for interview.

Interview process

Interview dates will be on 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 September, 2009. Candidates will be individually notified of their interview time, date and location.

Applicants will be invited for interview by email and the date and time will be referenced to your application ID number. It is important that your email address is correct and that you remember your ID number. You will be asked to bring all documents to interview, including a passport photo.

More information can be obtained from the local co-ordinator at each facility. You can also contact SWAHS Nurse Manager Bronwyn Merritt for further assistance on 02 4734 2277, or via email at bronwyn_merritt@wsahs.nsw.gov.au
