Trauma Registry Data

The Westmead Hospital Trauma Registry was established in February 1985 and by the millenium year it contains data on over 40,000 patients.  Information stored in the registry includes demographic information together with pre-hospital data, in hospital management, injuries, complications and discharge status.

The availability of the information relating to injury severity and outcome enables the identification of causes of the greatest degree of disability.

The aim of most trauma registries is to monitor the epidemiology, management and outcomes of major trauma patients and to identify opportunities for prevention and improved management.
