About the Arts & Culture 4 Health Project

We’re building a $145 million new Auburn Hospital, ready for occupation in 2009. The new hospital is now under construction (next to the existing buildings) and will provide purpose-built new healthcare facilities for the local community, including emergency care, birthing and maternity, outpatient, and general surgery services.

The new hospital has been designed to create a more welcoming and supportive environment for patients and carers, and a better workplace for staff.

Auburn is the most ethnically diverse local community in Australia, with a rich heritage of culture, tradition, belief and art.

Research shows that art, in all its forms, can contribute positively to the development of a healing environment, so we want our new hospital to reflect the amazing diversity and richness of our local community.

The Arts & Culture 4 Health Project is an initiative of the health service to enhance the design of the new facilities and provide an opportunity for the wider community to be partners in the redevelopment of Auburn Health Services.

We would like to invite all our staff to help us create that healing environment by participating in this special project.

Your ideas will help us to create a very special place!
