WIN Program

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the WIN Program?

The WIN Program is a major redevelopment of services and facilities in the Sydney West Area Health Service. WIN stands for "Western Integrated Network".

What are WIN's key projects?

WIN Program Stage One (Westmead) includes new facilities for:

  • Cardiac and general intensive care and neurosciences high dependency patients
  • Allied health patients visiting physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, Back to Life, podiatry or speech pathology
  • Women and babies
  • Cancer patients
  • Patients with kidney disease
  • Bone marrow transplant patients and patients with other blood diseases
  • Brain-injured patients.

Have any projects been completed yet?

Yes, some early works for the Breast Centre, NETS, the Ambulatory Procedures Centre and St Joseph's Hospital have already been completed.

Is WIN Program part of Westmead Hospital?

The WIN Program team is part of Sydney West Area Health Service, just like any other department. But instead of treating patients, providing physiotherapy or managing medical records, the WIN Program is responsible for the major redevelopment projects at Westmead and other Area health facilities.

The WIN Program team includes the WIN Partner, Thiess, which will design and construct the key Westmead Hospital Stage One projects (including women's health and newborn care, intensive care and the new cancer services centre) in consultation with hospital staff and management.
