Dietetics
The Dietitian's role is to oversee the nutritional care of inpatients and outpatients on a referral basis; and to be responsible for the nutritional adequacy of the patient's menu and the staff dining room menu.
The Dietitian is able to:
nutritionally assess the patient who may be eating orally or being fed enterally;
provide appropriate intervention and education on nutritional and dietary needs;
involve family or carers in education re the appropriate diet for discharge;
provide continuing education on nutrition issues for staff and health promotion activities.
The Dietary Supervisor helps the patients fill in their menus, is involved in the preparation of special dietary requirements, plating of meals and reviewing patients acceptance of meals.
